Mission

Impairment ratings shape real outcomes: benefits, settlements, working lives. Yet the process behind many of them is a professional flipping through dense reference tables under time pressure. Manual lookups invite error. Errors invite dispute. And when a rating is challenged, reconstructing how it was reached can be nearly impossible.

ImpairmentOS treats a rating as a process, not a guess. The software walks professionals through a structured, guides-based method where each step is explicit and each input is recorded. The output is not just a number. It is a number with a visible chain of reasoning behind it, reviewable by the professional, by a colleague, or by anyone who later needs to understand how the conclusion was reached.

The premise is that consistency is a form of fairness. When ratings vary with who performed them, someone is being treated unjustly and nobody can say who.

Where it stands

ImpairmentOS is in active build. The work centers on encoding the structured rating process faithfully and making the review trail genuinely useful rather than ceremonial. In this domain, correctness is the product. The build pace reflects that.

Roadmap

The near-term goal is a complete, trustworthy rating workflow that a professional can stand behind under scrutiny. From there, the roadmap extends to deeper coverage and the review tooling that lets a second set of eyes verify a rating in minutes instead of hours.

The bar for shipping is strict on purpose. A tool that promises consistency has to be more reliable than the manual process it replaces, every single time.
