Being Authentic

We all struggle with balancing professionalism and showing our true self. Being authentic to the world may seem unsurmountable. I assure you, it is within arm’s reach.

I consider myself reasonable and pragmatic in all my dealings. Yet I struggle with trusting most people. I have been told that I am King of my castle with my gate up. You can watch from the outside. I sit and listen to see who is worthy to enter my kingdom.

Here is how I think we can all be more authentic and build stronger relations with one another.

• Stop treating everyone like competitors. Start seeing them as complementors and allies.
• Stop listening to respond. Start listening to understand, with stillness.
• Stop pretending. Start voicing your feelings.
